ZOOMING in Biosciences
Victor
Muñoz
and Sarah Tishkoff, faculty members in the College of Life
Sciences, are recipients of the prestigious Packard Faculty
Fellowships.
Only the top 50 universities nationally are invited to submit a maximum of
two nominations for these fellowships. A total of 24 fellows are
selected,
and Maryland is one of only two universities to have more than one winner
this year. Muñoz and Tishkoff will each receive $625,000 over five years
to
pursue their research, which the Packard Foundation awards to the
country's
most promising young science and engineering faculty, enabling them to
"pursue lines of inquiry that might be too risky for standard funding
mechanisms."
ZOOM,
Victor and
Sarah!
